The newest allegations of sexual harassment against Governor Cuomo reaffirm what I said last week, that we need a truly independent investigation by the Attorney General or an independent prosecutor and not one run by a Cuomo apologist.
These serious and disturbing allegations coupled with the criminal investigation by the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn into the Cuomo Administration’s cover-up of the deaths of 15,000 New Yorkers in state-regulated nursing homes, makes it exceedingly difficult for Andrew Cuomo to continue to be one of the most powerful governors, in terms of executive and emergency powers, in the nation.
The legislature should remove his powers tomorrow.
He should do the right thing and resign.
If he fails to do so, the Assembly has a responsibility to be a check and balance in this representative democracy and pass articles of impeachment so my Senate colleagues and I are able to remove him from office and we can turn the page on this sad chapter in our state’s history.
